- Synopsis: As its title implies, this film is a tribute to Fangio - tribute on his retirement from Grand Prix racing in the summer of 1958, having been five times World Champion - and the acknowledged master of the sport. Motor racing enthusiasts recognise the period 1949 - 1958 as the Fangio era. It was during this time that his formidable skill and courage flowered into genius. The film traces his career during the great ten years by means of newsreel shots at different race tracks all over Europe, and in North and South America, and includes a specially shot sequence at the Modena track where the cameras examine Fangio at the wheel of a Maserati at speed. These are unique shots which show the master's technique in a way which has never been seen before. It is not forgotten in paying this film tribute that not only was Fangio the idol of the enthusiasts, but a well-loved colleague of other racing drivers and a friend of designers and mechanics alike. Madame Fangio too has had her part to play in his success and in a sense the film is a tribute to her as well.
