Research & Development - Texas (1965)(01.19) A rush of a meeting held by ARCO to announce that it will build a multi-million dollar petroleum research centre on a 30 acre plot in the Dallas North research Park at Plano. 2 men sitting on a couch talking; Loyd B. Sands, partner with W. Herbert Hunt in the development of the Research Park and George McVay, manager of Hunt Properties both arise to welcome W. Dow Hamm, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of ARCO and L.P “Barney” Whorton, Manager of ARCO’s Production Research and Development Division 4. ARCO Environmental Commercial (Thornton Bradshaw)(01.00) Presented by Thornton Bradshaw, President of ARCO, as he stands by a busy road saying that “this traffic mess is something no-one should have to put up with”. There are shots of the cars in the busy road next to him and a gradual panning out of rostrum shots to show the earth from space with the tagline “it’s the only Earth we’ve got”. He also adds that ARCO sells gasoline and will continue to sell gasoline but also wants to sell you on getting rid of traffic mess. He also says that over the next several months you will see a series of messages from ARCO about their concern of “pollution, the energy crisis, the big gap in mass transportation and the limitations of the automobile” so as “to help generate positive solutions”. 5. ARCO Twins Commercial (0.10) 10:06:27:00 A pair of twins, one wearing ARCO overalls and the other Richfield overalls, announces to camera that Richfield stations are becoming ARCO stations. The twin wearing ARCO overalls covers the badge of his twin’s overalls, while the twin wearing the Richfield overalls takes his cap with the Richfield logo off.
